Through asynchronous communication via email, you can share your, thoughts, feelings and processes in a way that may be more comfortable and/or accessible to you. For some clients, writing encourages greater freedom of self expression and self awareness, compared to verbal communication, providing a platform for meaningful self reflection at your pace.
In practical terms, email therapy consists of a weekly/biweekly exchange of emails between us, akin to a standard therapy session. I request that clients send their writings from a Proton Mail account for security.
We agree a set meeting time and day, keeping to our routine, or flexibility as needed. You will write up to 500 words to me, with any images - sketches, doodles, memes, photos etc. you choose. I will sit down at our agreed meeting time, reading and forming my reply to you over the 50 minutes, with up to 500 words also.
You may choose to have a mix of email sessions and video, as example. This can be ideal for clients if confidentiality will be challenging during our usual meeting time, such as friends visiting or going away on holiday, as examples.
